China Glaze Optical Illusion, Full Spectrum, & Liquid Crystal

Hey everyone! As most of you know I'm giving 3 of the new colors from the China Glaze Prismatic collection. Today I decided to swatch the colors for you. This collection consists of 6 colors and no word yet on when they're being released. The promo pics (as always) made everyone drool, and let me tell you, these bottles do not disappoint, they're so gorgeous and duochrome-y that I immediately went crazy. On the nail, however, they're nice, not the "OMG THIS BOTTLE IS GORGEOUS" effect that I had when I first saw them, which is unfortunate since that doesn't directly go on to the nails but they're very nice no less.

Here are the amazing looking bottles that I showed you yesterday...

Now on to the nails, these are all with 2 coats, no top coat, all 3 were really sheer on the first coat but came together nicely by the second coat.
Optical Illusion

Full Spectrum

Liquid Crystal

As you can see, on some angles you can really see the duochrome on the nail but it's not as extreme as in the bottle, I would imagine that a third coat would hide any nail that shows through but 2 was thorough enough for me. Overall, I think they're really pretty, I honestly do, however, I did expect more. As much as these are great, it almost seems like they're just a nicer version of the 3-D Glitters that just came out, the promo pics made me expect more.

  1. Thanks for your swatches dear, finally to see them on nails! I won't say they're not pretty but I expected so much more! :( Especially more holo! Oh well, what can we do. x)

  2. Did you try it with top coat at all? It's a funny thing I've noticed about a few of the china glaze glittery colors is they are just soooo blah without top coat but blow me away with top coat. This is actually the case with my fav china glaze polish.

  3. Nice to see some swatches up finally! So sad the duochrome doesn't translate all that well =[

  4. Hmm that's a bummer :( Maybe one coat over black would show the duochrome?

  5. These are pretty, but they were much better on the promo pictures. Too bad, but can we do=/

  6. Maybe you could try and swatch them over a dark base colour to get that duochrome effect a bit? Though they still look pretty this way! x

  9. I bought prism and I like it but I'm not loving it. The colours are really pale too and can look silver. However when I'm in natural light the colours are a bit more noticeable. I think if I have any spare cash I'll probably buy optical illusion or/and liquid crystal. They look a bit better.

  11. Thanks for these swatches. I was hesitant to pick up any when my friend who lives by a Sally's said she would pick up what I wanted...but I had zero idea having been so disappointing with a # of glitters we have had tossed at us in the past year..many were too rough, or too sparse. Nice to know these cover in 2 coats to opaque but gives us a chance to use them lighter in 1 coat if we want. These are pretty but they all seem to have silver, silver, silver with touches of other shades. Not enough variety. And frankly I am really tried of so many glitters after the last 2 years. I am looking forward to cleaner polishes, clear nice shades of all ranges. I think this is going to be the yr of the flakies easily available by many brands and TOPPERS like the now familiar LuxEffects from Essie and the always fab CND effects. Thanks for the great swatches.
