China Glaze Go-Go Pink

I was trying like a mad woman to post this last night but Blogger was just not having it. So, I just got home from work to post this now. Better late than never?

For today's Pink Wednesday I made a friend wear pink! I just did my nails yesterday and completely forgot about Pink Wednesday so I decided to kidnap my friend and say "I'm painting your nails pink". She didn't mind and alas, Pink Wednesday continues for me. She's wearing China Glaze's Go-Go Pink which is a really pale creme pink. I'm not too sure how I feel about this color, well not the color, but the formula itself .It's quite sheer so it took 3 coats on some nails and/or 2 thick coats on the others. Once dry it's really pretty but applying was a pain in the butt. Here it is!

OPI Crown Me Already and It's My Year

First off, I'd like to start by apologizing to everyone for not posting here since last Wednesday, bad me! I promise I'll try to keep the gaps smaller. Anyway! I had an absolute blast this weekend as hubs let me to go LA to hunt down nail supply shops. These places were amazing!!! $5 OPI, $4 China Glaze, $3.50 Essie and Orly, $2 Color Club!!!! I freaked out. These places even had the new OPI Ms. Universe Collection out!! The first shop (Starlight Nail & Beauty Supply) sold OPI at $4.25 each so I grabbed the two colors I wanted from that collection there. Here they are!

Crown Me Already is a clear polish packed with glitter that has a everything from micro & round glitters to small and large hexagon glitters. I don't know how I feel about it on it's own, I felt like I dipped my fingers in silver if that makes any sense? It's VERY pretty don't get me wrong, I just think you're either going to need like 5+coats to not be able to see the natural nail OR I can imagine this looks stunning under a shatter/crackle polish.

Here it is in 2 coats

It's MY Year was stunning! It's a light rosey purple jam packed with a gold shimmer that just leaves you unable to look away from your fingernails, I applied two coats and although it covered well, I was still able to very slightly see my nail underneath (pet peeve of mine)

Here's It's MY Year with 2 coats

Pink Wednesday

This is my very first Pink Wednesday post! Yaaaayy! So I sat at my "station" looking up at my polish and debating on what to wear, when my eye finally set in on China Glaze's Strawberry Field. It's pink, it shimmers gold in the light, and it's lovely! I'm not a big fan of pinks but I am quite fond of this! I tried to take pictures of as many angles and lighting as possible so that you could see the lovely shimmer I see.

Hello Kitty Nails

I got this plate off of bornprettystore.com back when they were doing their free hello kitty plate promotion. I got in on that and I finally got to use it! This was a really quick and simple mani for everyone to try.

Sorry I didn't take step by step photos but I'll break it down for you! Or you can watch the video attached at the end of the post as well!

-Started off with 2 coats of Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Rapid Red on my pinky, middle, and index fingers.

-As well as 2 coats of Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Whirlwind White on my thumb and ring finger.

-Stamped the flower image on konad plate M70 using the Whirlwind White on the 3 red nails.

-Then went on to tape off my thumb and index finger diagonally and stamped the same image on the 2 white nails using the Rapid Red.

-Stamped Hello Kitty image from plate M71 off bornprettystore.com using Wet N Wild Fast Dry in Ebony Hates Chris.

-Added a silver line on the white nails dividing the Hello Kitty from the red stamp.

-Dotted on nose and bows on Hello Kitty using Rapid Red and Lightening (both Sally Hansen Insta Dri)

-Used Seche Vite as Top Coat

And here's the final design!

Kleancolor Holo Blue

So, I've never given Kleancolor a real chance. Growing up, it was always the $1 nail polish at the swap meet. In like, every stand. So naturally, once I actually got into nail polish I deemed it as "no good". I've only ever bought 4 or so and simply for the fact that I saw some super chromey ones that I thought would make good stamping polishes (they did). Then a few weeks ago I saw that they came out with crackle polish and I bought it only because it was $2 and I wanted to see how they worked. It was horrible, barely cracked if at all, then it all flaked off like confetti. I was not amused.

Well, as I was on my nail polish escapades this weekend I went to this stand, and they had these holo polishes! Scattered holo, but still, holo nonetheless. I figured, eh, they're only a dollar, and I grabbed a couple. Well, my apoligies to you Kleancolor, because these are so cute!

All of the colors are kind of sheer but they're amazing layered on something so I gave myself a full mani with one today.

I started off with two coats of this super old Orly, the bottle looks so weird to me! Anyway, this is Satin Wisteria.

Then I went on to add 1 coat of holo blue by Kleancolor
I was outdoors so I quickly ran off to find some direct sunlight for the amazingness.

Why is it that you can only really see the amazingness of scattered holo on blurry pictures?
I just had to take a couple.

So yeah I learned my lesson today, I will no longer just look past Kleancolor, these were great! And I am now a happy camper :)

Ulta - Concrete Evidence

So, I never thought it would come to this. But this morning....I put on nail polish to match what I was wearing! Before, I'd do my nails whatever color I pleased and it didn't matter what I would wear. Well today, I was getting ready for work and as I was walking out the door I realized my nails were naked (oh no!). So I quickly grabbed this as it matched my top perfectly and voila! Please excuse the cuticles as I very quickly painted them at work :)

OPI Mermaid's Tears Dupe

Okay so I went to Rite Aid today and ran into the Sinful Colors Adventure Island collection (which i had seen before but never really paid attention). Well, I paid attention today, and it's a total dupe of the OPI Pirates of the Carribean Collection!  Any who, I picked up what looked like the dupe for OPI's Mermaid's Tears (Open Seas), as well as the "Seaweed" (what looks like "Skull and Crossbones") and "Adventure Island" (looks like "Stranger Tides"). So I decided to swatch Mermaid's Tears and Open Seas side by side for a real comparison.

Here's the whole collection (there's 8 colors whereas OPI Pirates has 6)

And now for the comparison!

At that point, I was going to do some silver shatter over it but then decided to do some silver shatter-like stamping using BM 208 and Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Silver Sweep.

Hand Painted Flowers

I don't even know how this mani started but it did and I really liked it! I hand painted the flowers (sounds harder than it was) and just used a small art brush for the fill/details.

Polishes used:
Ulta - Tutu Cute
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - White On
Finger Paints - Silver Sculpture
Finger Paints - It's an Original!
Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure - Yellow Kitty
LA Colors Art Deco - Black
Ulta - After Party
Topped it all off with China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat

Check out the video at the bottom if you'd like to see it step by step :)
Have a great evening!

Eeeep!

Pink & Black Leopard Nails

Every now and then my little sister asks me to paint her nails. And no matter how many times I do her nails, she always pretty much sticks to the same things. Pink, Black, Animal Prints, and sometimes crackle. So, I was looking for something new to do for her and came up with this. Hopefully she likes it!

I used Plum Frost by Petites as the pink base, and let me tell you, that polish is super chrome!! I was amazed!
One coat and it looked like I had foil on my fingernails! I outlined some black with China Glaze's Liquid Leather, hand drew some leopard print using China Glaze's QT, and separated the black and leopard with some Hot Topic Metallic Silver polish and this was the final result!
Video at the end in case you want to see it step by step :)
